Becky, I feel your pain. Mofongo plantains have to be very VERY green...and somehow the ones I get up here, are borderline pintones.

Cinnamon? That's a new one. The other thing I like is the mariquitas mojo you know, limon, aceite, ajo y sal!

Oh God, now I'm making myself hungry!

You people are making me hungry.
A friend puts cinnamon on hers. They taste great. I like lime and salt.

I think I need to tell Oscar to design a "Do you mofongo?'' tee!
Thanks for the additional clarification, A...

For fresh made tostones try putting some butter on them and then sprinkle the salt...that's how it was in my Cuban household growing up.

Also, fufú, as far as I know, is Cuban for smashed green plátanos with garlic and pork; in Puerto Rico it is called mofongo. The one that I know with ripe plaintains, is in the Dominican Republic and its called mangú.

In any case, those tostoneras look awesome, let me know how they work out for you!

Alexis only eats fufu when he's sick...I can't bring myself to partake...he makes it with green ones. And I like ketchup with my tostones sometimes...how much of a gringa am I?

*in my defense, my father-in-law likes that sometimes too, which is where I got the idea...
