Parenting.com: Not keeping up with the Hot Mamitas
Since I quit my full-time, outside-the-house gig four years ago, I have allowed my standards to slip – slip to the point of not recognizing the unpolished woman who most weekdays stares back at me in the mirror.
It isn’t that big a deal, just mostly an observation. It’s a realization I have become a cliche, a mother who dares go out in public without proper powder and pressed pantalones.
I blame exhaustion for my lapse, but also hope that it is some sort of twisted self-confidence.
The rest over at Parenting.com:
It appears I have become something that I used to raise my eyebrows at. I was always surprised to hear mom friends talk about skipping showers, wearing the same clothes for days, but me leave the house looking like Nick Nolte’s mug shot? Never, I would say. Ha! That water is so polluted.

It’s so nice to know que yo no estoy sola!
I like to think that my priorities have shifted, right?
Surely it’s a “noble” choice to sacrifice my appearance in order to catch an extra fifteen minutes of sleep if it means I’m going to be a more pleasant mama later in the day….
You just have to find the right spin to put on this, and soon you’ll be able to embrace the new you!!
Oh, thank god that I am not the only one!
