When I moved to Birmingham, AL from Miami several years ago, a new friend gave me a present and I thanked her in person, telling her how much I had liked it. She promptly told me that it wasn’t enough to just say “gracias”; I should send her a thank you note as well. All these years later, I still appreciate her frankness and directness. It helped me learn the culture of this new land!

I would totally love some. Too bad we aren’t that close. Ni modo. But, I tell ya, you are the secon mami blogger I meet that has gallinas. My hubby has been trying to convince me of getting some. Hum. This makes me think about it even more. A la mejor.

@Lisa, love the name of your blog…having chickens is not hard. You can even do a tractor/coop thing to move them around your yard without letting them out. I have guineas and they’re a little wilder. Joden mucho, but they are fun!

LOL That’s cute. We’re not a bilingual family but my kids and I are learning Spanish because we love the language. It’s hard because I’m in Canada and our second language is French so there’s no Spanish-school I can send them to when they get older.

Anyways, my 3 year old today drew a picture and told me it was ArgoEres. Do you know what that’s supposed to be?? That’s how she pronounced it. Wanna guess? No?? Scroll down.

Arco Iris (apologies if that’s not typed correctly)

It took me a few minutes to figure out what she meant. And my two year old (2 on Tuesday!) sometimes says Gracias when I give her something. So cute!

Callista, that is so cool you are spending the time to teach your children Spanish — and that they are responding. Nice to meet you!
