Congrats on Maria's first tooth! Prepare to get creative with ways of helping her pull it out! ;)

Hello everyone, I was not born in Cuba, but my mom was and I was raised all over Miami. After I graduated I joined the Air Force and wanted to see something away from Calle Ocho, and Hialeah. So after 21 years of active duty, I have finally retired, to where my husband is from (Mi Gringo is from Illinois) I miss my roots terribly, but reading this post me da mucha alegria! I just wanted to let you know that I had an assignment in Colorado Springs, and wanted to let you know that the Cubans are taking over! I was so tickled when I first moved there in 2001 to see a Cuban flag hanging on someones rear view mirror! it was time to meet the vecinos! It was the beginning of a beautiful relationship, and reminders of just what I had left behind in Miami. La chusmeria, la sateria, y la comida!) Knowing the Sanchez family in Colorado changed alot. I also met another friend, Mari Guzman, she was born in Cuba, and came as a baby during the Mariel Boatlift. She was my instant sister…and I wanted to let her know, I miss her too! The last I heard, there were several generations living and moving to colorado springs, so if you are ever there, and see a Cuban flag, pull them over to say oye for me!
