As per the article…dang. I thought people blogged to share their stories and connect and commiserate with readers. I mean, that's how I stumbled upon yours. Wow, you are so right Carrie and I'm glad you blogged about this! I too have seen all these giveaways and yes it is whacked.
Rob and I are artists, I have had one giveaway (a bracelet) and sure it brought SOME people my way but nothing significant, probably won't do another. We blog about our art, our culture, and familia, I am not the best writer and when I blogged about la cultura and tattoos not one person commented, I look at it as letting people see what a Santero (Rob) creates and the different colors I like to use when making jewelry that is reminiscent of my 2nd home-New Mexico. Now can you send some chicharrones my way please!

Seriously now, I agree that giveaways and "reviews" are getting out of hand. I do believe, though, that a blogger needs to be very clear on what is the focus and niche of their blog. This is the only way of knowing what type of giveaways will be appreciated by our readers. I would never, ever review a minty toothpaste, por ejemplo.
If the product adds to our readers journey and we also enjoy it, then it's a win-win for blogger, reader and PR rep. Right?

I agree that some bloggers review just about anything for the freebies and giveaways. But, I also appreciate an honest review of a product when the mom really loves it. I don't know if I want to buy the bugaboo unless mom's out there truely love it ( actually I'm a babywearer so I wouldn't buy it anyway, but you get it…).
