Chicago and Shakira
I disappeared to Chicago with my husband and daughter. While I went to college in Southern Illinois and traveled to Chicagoland a few times, I missed out on seeing the best of the city. It was fabulous and I would turn right back around tomorrow if I could. The friends we stayed with had a lovely old house with a big porch they call the Taverna. We spent a lot of time in the Taverna, we strolled, we went to the aquarium and Maria joined tourists and natives alike in the Millennium Park fountain.
I also had dinner with six friends from college who have settled in Chicago and looking at pictures of us in the mid- and late-80s, I have to say thank goodness we did not grow up in the age of Facebook and Twitter. I didn’t know there were pictures of me out there in granny panties and perm. The perm may be long gone, but let me tell you, the granny panties are not. (I know, my poor husband.)
Speaking of panties, have you seen Shakira’s new video, She Wolf. “Esta entera” comes to mind and when you finish checking her out, watch my latest Tiki Tiki blog video and you’ll be reminded, once again, that we Latinas don’t all look like that. De pena.

Have you thought about doing one in reverse. "Where the rubber meets the road" (Donde la goma conose a la carretera). "Don't beat around the bush" (No pegues alrededor de la mata).

Glad you had fun in Chicago. My dad's favorite saying when I was in high school was, "Ese huevo quiere sal." As he eyed certain male friends suspiciously.
Wierd how much you and I have in common! You are always posting a similar thought or experience. I was in Chicago this summer too and my mija loved the fountain. We did the aquarium too, in our first hour there we saw two fish, rode 6 elevators visited the bathroom, nursing room, and vending machine room (she loved that) finally we went back to looking at fish.
Next time you go to chicago you must get some pastel de tres leches from Pierre's Bakery on Milwaukee.delicioso!!
