Abuelito of the Year
I am reposting this video, which got all kinds of love this week on the Tiki Tiki, so that anybody who pops over here from the Spanglishbaby Blogging Carnival sees an update on the abuelito. The post I contributed to the carnival is from 2007…and not much has changed. My father continues to delight and offer unique lessons.
Witness here Papi and Maria playing pick-up sticks. He’s not acting. He’s being himself. 100% It is why my house is very quiet when he is gone. Also notice my kid cheating her 72-year-old Abuelito in the game.

He looks like he’s the life of the party! I wouldn’t have one without him, if I were you!
How were you NOT cracking up while shooting this?!
So, that´s were you get the funny gene…
He is somethin’ somethin’…and Ana, I didn’t crack up because that’s sooo common. I am used to him!
Thanks for the comments, ladies!
Hi Carrie!
Love the video! Your Dad is sooo funny. It was very cute to see how much fun Maria and him were having. Manana I’m off to buy “Los Palitos Chino” as my grandmother referred to them. Her and I would play for hours and I bet that my Olivia would love the game! Thanks for sharing the video!
Ha! So funny! I’m going to be singing, “La, la, la, I’m the winner!” for the rest of the day!
Carrie,
this is so funny!!! You’re lucky to have such vibrance in your life :)
It was great meeting you at Blissdom. Hope we can connect again soon!
There was a red squiggly line under “vibrance,” so maybe it’s not a word. Anyway, what I mean is lively-ness. That one has a line under it, too. Hmmm… my brain is mush from playing with “choo choos” all morning. I think you know what I mean!
Palitos Chinos! I totally forgot that is what they are called in Spanish…and thank you, Rachel, I am lucky. Nice to see you here. It was great to meet you at Blissdom!
Chantel, como te va el lalalala?
That is Awesome. Love it.
Beautiful! Cha-cha-cha, que rico, cha-cha-cha, I totally know that song!
