My poor Cuban mother
My mom had no idea I had been video-taping the messages she leaves on my answering machine. The reason: To create a video essay for Tiki Tiki titled: “I have a Latin Mother.”
“She tells me she worries if she hasn’t heard from me. I tell her not to freak, the local hospital surely will find her if they need to. She doesn’t like that and tells me to “por Dios, no digas eso!”
Come on over there and see it…and be sure to read the comments. They are hilarious.

This video was great!
Here's the comment I left there, in case you haven't seen it:
Working at a Latino lifestyle magazine (cafemagazine.com), I’ve learned a lot about Latina mothers – and they sound awesome! If you’re interested in learning more about Latina mothers who work to balance their American and Latina cultures when raising their kids, you should check out a great article of ours. It’s called “All About My Acculturated Mamá” and it seems like a lot of you would be able to relate to it. Hope you enjoy it!
