Latinos: Social Media Especialistas
This is a contest entry for a Toshiba laptop from the organizers of the social media conference, LatISM, and a chance for me to poke some fun at my own gente…
Edited Aug. 23 to say: I won! I won!
Many thanks to the committee and to Toshiba!
Corporate CEOs, marketers and advertisers are atwitter about reaching Latinos online. You probably already know the stats and the whys, but the most honest reason: Dinero.
We have it, they want it.
And, in the interest of full disclosure before we go any further, I have a business and another blog created for the same reason. Viva el American dream! (Go get yourself some of it too!)
But I think we, as a target market, are a big, hairy, scary monster.
Why?
We’re every shade of human possible. Some of us are of native peoples, some of us are only of European background and every amount of mix in between. Some are of Jewish descent and some of us have some chinito in us. Some of us speak Spanish, some of us don’t. Some have no idea what an arepa is, while others live for tripe on Sundays.
Pity the marketers.
But, if you allow me some stereotype in the name of fun, watch the video for some truisms (at least my own) about why Social Media, which confounds millions, is perfect for reaching Latinos, a people who long ago perfected the Radio Bemba, the unfailingly good information distribution system of our gente.
Twitter?
Facil.
(
and seriously, YouTube hates me. It always shows the most drugged out pictures of me…Eh, whatever. I have lost all shame.)

You have described us perfectly Carrie!! One of my nicknames as young girl was Tammy9news, haha!
Carrie that was hilarious and sooo true!! I have laughed soo hard with the "Radio Bemba" (never heard that outside my country, but seems like its global!)
Espero que ganes!! Suerte! ;)
Ah, thanks you guys. You are kind for allowing to post the crazy on the blog.

"We are the only country in the world that has taken people from so many different backgrounds, which is a great achievement by itself, but an even greater achievement is that we have turned all of that variety and diversity into unity." ~ L. Alexander
This was way too funny! You are awesome!
If my grandmother heard she'd yell out: "Sangana!" Maria's too cute. Maybe you can feature her little outburst on a video blog. :)
